Aerial Yoga for Kids & Teens

We design our classes based on where a child is at developmentally in order to provide the highest quality yoga experience. Please make sure you register your flying yogi in the appropriate level/ grade series. In the event that your yogi is registered in the wrong level/ grade series, Born Yoga Studio has the right to change their enrollment.

Aerial Yoga is offered in 12-week sessions. The total cost for a 12-week session is $485.  A $150 non-refundable deposit is required in order to enroll and reserve your yogis spot. The remaining balance is due on or before the first class. Price includes instruction, supplies, registration, and insurance.

WHAT TO BRING: All Students: Please bring a water bottle to all classes.

WHAT TO WEAR: PLEASE, NO JEWELRY! Stud earrings are okay. Come dressed in comfortable clothing free of snaps, zips or exposed buckles that could snag the hammock fabric. We will practice yoga barefoot so all shoes will be dropped at the door! Please remove all jewelry prior to practicing yoga as it can snag or rip our fabric hammocks.

WEAR LEGGINGS OR PANTS!!!!! It is highly recommended that kids wear leggings or pants to protect their skin as they move in the yoga fabric. When they do poses in the fabric with short shorts or leotards, it can feel very uncomfortable and limit participation. Loose and comfortable cotton pants, yoga pants or leggings are perfect!

Boys and girls with hair below the shoulders need to pull hair back for practice!

STUDIO ETIQUETTE:

  • We ask that everyone remove socks and shoes before entering the yoga room.
  • Please encourage and remind your children to speak in calm, low volume voices when in the reception area or the studio.
  • No food or snacks inside the yoga room.
  • Please turn all cell phones off or on silent in the studio. We can hear loud phone ring tones from the studio!

Students waiting for classes may do so in the reception area. The instructor will call students in to class.

Shoes and other personal items may be placed in cubbies in the reception area.

PARENT OBSERVATION: At the end of each series, we will invite the parents into the yoga room to demonstrate all that we learned! Parents, mark your calendars to arrive 20 minutes early for the Group Aerial Demonstration. Parents are always, always welcome to be on site during class and observe your children. However, you are certainly not expected to stay! If you’d like to observe, please do so by watching from the TV in the reception area.

MAKE-UP Class: One 30 minute make-up class may be scheduled depending on the availability of the teacher and student. A make-up class is not guaranteed but we will try our best to make it work.

Born Yoga will not provide a full refund because registration holds a spot in our classes with limited space. Once you register for a class, you are committing for the entire 12-week series.

If you register ahead of time and need to cancel at least 2 weeks before the session begins, Born Yoga can do one of two things:

  1. Charge a $50 cancellation fee and refund the remainder ONLY if your child’s spot is filled.
  2. Credit your account, for the full amount, less $25. The account credit can apply to a future class.

If your child has an injury requiring a physical respite, please email Ashley at bornyogastudio@gmail.com with doctors orders and we can make accommodations as needed.

Beginners Aerial Yoga Mini Series

1st to 4th Graders: Register Here

1 Hour  |  2 or 4 Week Series

Prerequisite: No prerequisite required.

This mini series will give your yogi the opportunity to experience flight at a shorter distance and prepare them for the 12 week Beginners Aerial Yoga Series. In this class, they will learn simple beginner aerial yoga poses and basic vinyasa flows. Your yogi will also gain self-confidence and learn mindfulness and social skills through aerial games and group or partner poses.

Beginners Aerial Yoga

1st to 4th Graders: Register Here

1 Hour  |  12 Week Series

Prerequisite: No prerequisite required.

This class is for flying yogis that have never taken aerial yoga at Born Yoga before. It will give your yogi the opportunity to experience traditional yoga poses with the support of an aerial hammock, while safely flying through the air and building strength. They will learn the foundation poses needed for Aerial Yoga- Level 1 and be introduced to simple vinyasa flows while in the hammock. They will gain self-confidence and learn mindfulness and social skills through aerial games and group or partner poses. The final class is a performance that showcases the vinyasa sequence that your flying yogi has learned.

Beginners Teen Aerial Yoga

8th Graders and Up: Register Here

Prerequisite: No prerequisite required.

This class is for flying yogis that have never taken aerial yoga at Born Yoga before. Each class will begin with warmup flows and sequencing in the aerial hammock. They will learn the foundation poses needed for Teen Aerial Yoga- Level 1 and be introduced to simple vinyasa flows, partner poses and games while in the hammock. There will be an emphasis on mindfulness and self-awareness skills, which will give your yogi the confidence they need to soar. The final class is a parent demonstration where your yogi will have the opportunity to showcase the aerial vinyasa flow that they created.

Aerial Yoga – Level 1

1st to 4th Graders: Register Here

Prerequisite: Flying yogi must have completed a 12 week Beginners Aerial Yoga Series (Beginners Aerial Yoga Mini Series does not count).

This class will build and expand upon the foundation poses learned in Beginners Aerial Yoga, provide more opportunities for creative expression and sequencing of poses. Your yogi will continue to increase their strength, endurance and balance in each pose. Classes will vary slightly each semester so we encourage students to take this class more than once for mastery of the foundation poses. Mindfulness lessons will continue to be interwoven into each class as well as age-appropriate aerial yoga games and art. The final class is a parent demonstration where your yogi will have the opportunity to showcase the aerial vinyasa flow that they created.

Aerial Yoga – Level 2

4th to 8th Graders: Register Here

Prerequisite: Flying yogi must have completed 12 week Aerial Yoga- Level 1.

In this series, yogis will build upon and continue to strengthen the poses learned in Level 1, with an emphasis on mastering each of them. In addition, they will be introduced to more advanced aerial yoga poses and create new poses on their own and with a partner or group. The flying yogis will continue to work on transitions, sequencing and vinyasa flows. Mindfulness lessons will continue to be interwoven into each class as well as age-appropriate aerial yoga games and art. The final class is a parent demonstration where your yogi will have the opportunity to showcase the aerial vinyasa flow that they created.

Aerial Yoga – Level 3

4th to 8th Graders: Register Here

Prerequisite: Flying yogi must have completed 12 week Aerial Yoga- Levels 1 & 2.

This class will give your flying yogi the freedom to take flight! They will expand upon all of the poses learned in their previous aerial yoga classes and have more opportunities for creative expression and sequencing of poses. Each class will begin with more advanced warmup flows and transitions in the aerial hammock, increasing their strength, endurance and balance. Advanced poses including inversions and drops will be held longer with opportunities to create their own flows at a more challenging level. Through mindfulness and self-awareness skills and age-appropriate games, they will gain the confidence to soar, as well as the freedom to express themselves. Classes will vary slightly each semester so we encourage students to take this class more than once for mastery of the foundation poses. The final class is a parent demonstration where your yogi will have the opportunity to showcase the aerial vinyasa flow that they created.

Teen Aerial Yoga – 13+

8th Graders and Up: Register Here

Prerequisite: No prerequiste.

This all levels class will introduce, build and expand upon the foundation poses and provide opportunities for creative expression and sequencing of poses. Your yogi will increase their strength, endurance and balance in each pose. Each class will begin with warmup flows and sequencing in the aerial hammock. Classes will vary slightly each semester so we encourage students to take this class more than once for mastery of the foundation poses. Mindfulness lessons will be interwoven into each class as well as age-appropriate aerial yoga games and art. The final class is a parent demonstration where your yogi will have the opportunity to showcase the aerial vinyasa flow that they created.

Teen Aerial Yoga – Level 2

8th Graders and Up: Register Here

Aerial Yoga for Adults

Prerequisite: No prerequisite required.

Get ready to fly in this exciting and empowering all levels aerial yoga class. Each class will begin with a grounded warm-up flow to prepare the body for aerial yoga poses and sequences. With the support of the aerial silks, challenging poses, such as inversions and backbends, become more accessible to explore. The silks provide opportunities for a deeper stretch in traditional poses as well as antigravity benefits, such as decompression of the spine. Class concludes with a restorative and peaceful savasana while cocooned in the silks.
