ADDITIONAL Q&A

What if my child has to use the bathroom?

  • We strongly ask that you encourage your child to use the bathroom before camp. However, we will give many “potty reminders” throughout the morning.
  • If your child needs assistance in the bathroom please inform us by email prior to the start of camp. Clean gloves will always be worn when assistance is needed in the bathroom.
  • If your child has to use the bathroom once we are outside, a counselor will walk them back to the studio. All counselors have been trained in proper hygiene as well as how to help your child properly wash their hands. All bathroom surfaces will be sanitized after every use.

What if someone else is bringing or picking up my child?

As always, a WRITTEN NOTE must be given to the Counselor at drop off (or emailed to Ashley ahead of time) if someone other than yourself will be bringing or picking up your camper. Please let that person know that we will ask to see their drivers license and that they will need to place the sign in their window.

What about Snack Time?

Yes. We will still provide a healthy snack for all of the kids. Each child will be given their own portion of snack (handed out by our staff with gloves and a mask). Snack is ALWAYS NUT FREE and will vary between goldfish crackers, skinny pop, veggie straws, apples, watermelon and clementines. On Fridays we will have popsicles or a special treat.

What should my child wear?

  • Please dress your child in lightweight and comfortable clothing that is easy to move in.
  • ALL children MUST WEAR A BATHING SUIT underneath their clothing. Time is limited and we will not be able to help your child change or take them to change at the studio if they do not have their bathing suits on before camp.
  • A 2-PIECE BATHING SUIT is encouraged for girls to make it easier when using the bathroom.
  • If your child is attending a themed camp where they can dress up (e.g. Princess Yoginis), please feel free to send them in a costume/dress up clothes over their swimsuit. Please send additional clothes to change into in case they get hot.
  • Please put your child in WATER SHOES or shoes you don’t mind them getting wet. They will keep their shoes on while running around for water play to ensure their safety. Nobody likes stepping on a pine cone!
  • ABSOLUTELY NO FLIP FLOPS!!  Flip flops are difficult to run in when outside and also tend to be a safety hazard (it is easy to trip when moving in flip flops). We recommend waterproof (preferably closed-toe shoes) like Crocs, Natives or Keens. They will be required to keep their shoes on while moving around outside and during water play. Therefore, keep in mind that their shoes will be getting wet.
  • We recommend sending your child with a backpack or beach bag to keep their belongings in. This will also make it easier for them to carry when we transition to the field. They will not need to carry their yoga mats; we will put them in the wagon.

Should my child wear sunscreen?

ABSOLUTELY. It is required that you PRE-APPLY sunscreen before arriving to camp. We will NOT apply sunscreen to your child. There are plenty of shaded spots at the field and we will be in the shade as much as possible.

What does my child need to bring? PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING!

  • Backpack or tote bag (CHILD’S NAME SHOULD BE VISIBLE ON THE FRONT)
  • Yoga mat (Please put their name on their mat. We will keep their mats at camp throughout the week so that we can have them set up and ready to go each day.) If you do not have a children’s yoga mat, we have a wonderful selection in the studio! Feel free to stop by and check them out.
  • Water bottle (filled with cold water). It is very important that they stay hydrated throughout the morning.
  • Towel
  • Cover up or change of clothes. We will have 3 changing tents set up outside. A cover up is preferred, however, If you would like your child to change out of their bathing suit, please plan to arrive 10 minutes early to assist them. We will NOT be assisting them in the changing tents this year as it takes away valuable time that is needed from staff overseeing the campers.
  • NUT-FREE lunch (Aftercare and Aerial/Acro campers ONLY).
  • Please leave all toys and valuables at home. We are not responsible for lost items.

When is the balance due?

All summer camp balances will be due on May 1st. We will automatically charge the card on file unless you notify us before May 1st letting us know that you would like to pay with a different form of payment.

Is there a credit card processing fee?

A 3% processing fee will be added to the balance if paying with a credit card. You are welcome to pay by cash or check (written out to Born Yoga) to avoid this fee.

What is the refund policy?

  • All deposits are non refundable.
  • All camps are non refundable.
  • If a student does not show up to camp without letting the studio know ahead of time of their absence, they lose payment entirely.
  • If there is availability, a transfer may be granted if cancelation is 2 weeks prior to camp and may be used for the same child towards another camp of equal or lesser value.
  • For last minute cancellations, a 50% refund may be granted ONLY if the spot is filled.

$540/5 days – starting 1/11/23
$100 NON-REFUNDABLE Deposit is required at time of enrollment.

*Campers will be divided by age and/or experience level.

Build strength and confidence in this fun and athletic yoga camp that blends partner yoga poses with acrobatics and aerial yoga! During this empowering camp, we will move, breathe, craft, & meditate.

Each session will include outdoor yoga, arts & crafts, healthy NUT-FREE snacks and a Born Yoga t-shirt. We will have lunch outside (weather permitting) daily at 12:30pm. Lunch is NOT provided. Please send your camper with a NUT-FREE lunch. Lunch will be followed by water play. We recommend sending your child with a bathing suit, a towel and a change of clothes.

Each camper will receive a Born Yoga t-shirt per camp. Size and color of t-shirt will depend on your time of enrollment. Campers that register after April 1st may not receive the exact color and size they prefer due to ordering deadlines.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • We will be providing a healthy NUT-FREE snack (e.g. fruit or veggie, nut-free cracker, cheese sticks) for our Snack Break around 11:00.
  • A NUT-FREE lunch
  • Please send your child with a WATER BOTTLE every day or leave it in their cubby. It is important for them to stay hydrated throughout the morning.
  • A yoga mat (or you can rent one from the studio for $4/day)

WHAT TO WEAR:

  • ABSOLUTELY NO JEWELRY! Please remove all jewelry prior to practicing yoga as it can snag or rip our fabric hammocks.
  • Come dressed in comfortable clothing free of snaps, zips or exposed buckles that could snag the hammock fabric. We will practice yoga barefoot so all shoes will be dropped at the door!
  • WEAR LEGGINGS OR PANTS!!!!! It is highly recommended that kids wear leggings or pants to protect their skin as they move in the yoga fabric. When they do poses in the fabric with short shorts or leotards, it can feel very uncomfortable and limit participation. Loose and comfortable cotton pants, yoga pants or regular old leggings are perfect!
  • Boys and girls with hair below the shoulders need to pull hair back for practice!

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THEIR TIME AT CAMP

  • The first 20-25 minutes of camp will start outside on the patio with art activities and “getting to know you” games and activities.
  • The next 2 hours will be spent alternating between 3 different activities: Aerial Yoga, Yoga and Acro Yoga Outside and Arts & Crafts. During this time, campers will be placed in smaller groups based on their skill level. Snack time will also take place during this time.
  • While indoors, masks will be optional and up to your discretion.
  • Around 12:30, we will walk to the field at the corner of Lincoln and Eton for the remaining hour of camp. Once at the field we will have lunch, play games, and have the sprinklers or water balloons available.

Morning drop-off is at 9am. The studio is open for both free play and table/craft activities until about 9:45am. This is followed by a 45 minute themed yoga class with games, music and lots of movement! At about 10:30 we get ready to head to the park for a family style picnic and play! Outside time at the park includes free play, outdoor yoga & games, water balloons and water play, just to name a few things…We head back to the studio around 11:30 and create a craft or read a book. With 10 minutes to go, we cool down in Svasana before pick up at 12pm!

A Born Yoga Lead Teacher is always present at camp as well as 2 or more additional staff members.

We go to Kenning Park which is located on Lincoln, East of Eton Street, behind the Birmingham Racquet Club (it is about 2.5 blocks from the studio). We walk together on a rope with handles for each child. There is always an adult at the front of the rope, at the back of the rope and on the side of the rope.

  • We will be providing a healthy NUT-FREE snack (e.g. fruit or veggie, nut-free cracker, cheese sticks) for our Snack Break around 11:00. This is just a snack, not a meal. If you feel that your child has specific likes or is used to having more of a meal/lunch at this time, please feel free to pack a NUT-FREE lunch or additional snacks for them.
  • Please send your child with a WATER BOTTLE every day or leave it in their cubby. It is important for them to stay hydrated throughout the morning.
  • Your child is welcome to bring their own yoga mat or use one of ours.
  • Please bring an additional change of clothes and a towel (for water play).
  • Be sure to label everything.
  • Please dress your child in comfortable clothing that they can move around in. We go to the park everyday so shorts/leggings & a tank/tee are suggested.
