2020 Born Yoga Summer Camps Registration is coming soon!

For availability, please call 248-480-0452 or email info@bornyogastudio.com

Are the times the same? And how many campers will be at each camp?

-We are offering shorter camp sessions (2 hours each), rather than 1 longer session. There will be a morning session, 9:30-11:30am and an afternoon session, 1:00-3:00pm.

-By now you should have been assigned a session. If you are unsure of your session time or have questions, please email Ashley.

How many campers will be in each camp?

-We are taking NO MORE than 8 campers per session.

Will camp be held inside or outside?

-99% of camp will be held outside at the field on the corner of Lincoln & Eton. The 1% is in case your child has to use the bathroom.

What if it rains?

Camp will be cancelled if it is raining. We will notify you at least 1 hour before the start of camp.

What if my child has to use the bathroom?

-If your child has to use the bathroom, a counselor will wear a mask and gloves to hold their hand and walk them to the studio. All counselors have been trained in proper hygiene as well as how to help your child properly wash their hands. All bathroom surfaces will be sanitized after every use. A new pair of gloves will be worn to walk your child back to the field.

What is required of Camp Counselors?

-Counselors are required to wear masks and gloves during snack and craft time.

-Counselors are required to wear a mask during the entire duration of camp and will be given fresh air breaks away from the group.

-Staff temperatures will be checked daily before and after each camp session.

What are the new drop-off & pick up procedures?

-We will be assigning each camper a drop off time. Please try your best to be on time.

-Drop-off & pick-up will no longer be held at the studio. You will park off of Lincoln, just east of Eton (see map)

-One the first day of camp, you will receive a sign with your child’s name printed on it to place on your window so that we know what car you drive.

-DROP-OFF: Once parked, you will place your child’s name sign in your window so that we know who is here and wait for a counselor to come to your car and assist your child to the “Healthy Minds & Bodies Station.” From there, we will give them hand sanitizer and check their temperatures. The counselor assisting your child will give you a thumbs up to let you know that you are all set to leave. We will then help place your campers towel and yoga mat within our “outdoor yoga space” ensuring it is within a safe distance from the other campers.

-PICK-UP: Pick up will be held at the same location as drop-off. Please be on time. A $1 per minute late fee will be charged if you are more than 5 minutes late for your scheduled pick up time. Once we see your car, a counselor will walk your camper and their belongings to your car. If you are late for your pick up time, you may have to wait until the others are picked up.

What if someone else is bringing or picking up my child?

-As always, a WRITTEN NOTE must be given to the Counselor at drop off (or emailed to Ashley ahead of time) if someone other than yourself will be bringing or picking up your camper. Please let us know if you need additional signs made for your car window.

-Please let that person know that we will ask to see their drivers license and that they will need to place the sign in their window.

Will there still be snack time?

-Yes. We will still provide a healthy snack for all of the kids. Each child will be given their own portion of snack (handed out by our staff with gloves and a mask). Snack is ALWAYS NUT FREE and will vary between goldfish crackers, skinny pop, veggie straws, apples, watermelon and clementines. On Fridays we will have popsicles.

-This year, we are asking that you DO NOT send your child with snacks from home. We are trying to limit the amount of items that each child brings. If your child has any dietary restrictions, please email Ashley before camp.

Does my child have to wear a mask?

-We are not requiring your child to wear a mask. We will leave that decision up to you.

What should my child wear?

-ALL children MUST WEAR A BATHING SUIT underneath their clothing. Time is limited and we will not be able to help your child change or take them to change at the studio if they do not have their bathing suits on before camp.

-If your child is attending a themed camp where they can dress up (e.g. Princess Yoginis), by all means please feel free to send them with a princess dress or superhero costume over their swimsuit. Please send additional clothes to change into in case they get hot.

-Please put your child in WATER SHOES or shoes you don’t mind them getting wet. They will keep their shoes on while running around for water play to ensure their safety. Nobody likes stepping on a pine cone!

-ABSOLUTELY NO FLIP FLOPS!!

How will they change out of their wet clothes and swimsuits?

Because we will not be going back to the studio to change, you have the following options if your child needs assistance. If your child is independent in getting dressed we will have them change in the enclosed tent.

1.) Come to camp 10 minutes early and assist your child in changing their clothes (we will have a tent and shields for privacy).

2.) Give our staff written permission to assist your child in changing into dry clothes. Staff will wear gloves and a mask.

3.) Send your child with a simple cover up or robe and we can send them home in that over their bathing suit.

**Please let us know what you prefer.**

Should my child wear sunscreen?

ABSOLUTELY. It is required that you PRE-APPLY sunscreen before arriving to camp. We will NOT apply sunscreen to your child. There are plenty of shaded spots at the field and we will be in the shade as much as possible.

What does my child need to bring?

-A yoga mat

-A towel

-A change of clothes or a cover-up

-A water bottle

-Please label everything

-PLEASE LEAVE ALL TOYS/VALUABLES AT HOME. We are not responsible for lost items.

We will also spend time doing yoga outside.

Your child must be in at least 1st grade to enroll.

You may receive a refund for camps canceled within two weeks prior to the start date with a $50 cancellation fee. For those with emergencies or extenuating circumstances, please contact us immediately so we can work with you on your options.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • We will be providing a healthy NUT-FREE snack (e.g. fruit or veggie, nut-free cracker, cheese sticks) for our Snack Break around 11:00. This is just a snack, not a meal. If you feel that your child has specific likes or is used to having more of a meal/lunch at this time, please feel free to pack a NUT-FREE lunch or additional snacks for them.
  • Please send your child with a WATER BOTTLE every day or leave it in their cubby. It is important for them to stay hydrated throughout the morning.
  • Your child is welcome to bring their own yoga mat or use one of ours.

WHAT TO WEAR:

-PLEASE, NO JEWELRY! Stud earrings are okay. Please remove all jewelry prior to practicing yoga as it can snag or rip our fabric hammocks.

-Come dressed in comfortable clothing free of snaps, zips or exposed buckles that could snag the hammock fabric. We will practice yoga barefoot so all shoes will be dropped at the door!

-WEAR LEGGINGS OR PANTS!!!!! It is highly recommended that kids wear leggings or pants to protect their skin as they move in the yoga fabric. When they do poses in the fabric with short shorts or leotards, it can feel very uncomfortable and limit participation. Loose and comfortable cotton pants, yoga pants or regular old leggings are perfect!

-Boys and girls with hair below the shoulders need to pull hair back for practice!

STUDIO ETIQUETTE:

  • I ask that everyone remove socks and shoes before entering the yoga room.
  • Please encourage and remind your children to speak in calm, low volume voices when in the reception area or the studio.
  • No food or snacks inside the yoga room.
  • Please turn all cell phones off or on silent in the studio. We can hear loud phone ringtones from the studio!

Students waiting for classes may do so in the reception area. The instructor will call students into class.
Shoes and other personal items may be placed in cubbies in the reception area.
